2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class ReviewFeatures RundownEdmunds

TRAVIS LANGNESS: I'm Edmunds
editor Travis Langness, and this is an expert rundown of
the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. This year the
Mercedes-Benz C-Class gets a new, redesigned
coup and convertible. The sedan was just
redesigned two years ago, but finally the two door
models have caught up. We also get the addition of the
AMG C43, which was previously known as the C450.

Whatever body style
you choose, you should go into the
shopping process knowing that the Mercedes-Benz
C-Class is absolutely a leader in its segment. Aside from the
modern, sleek styling, it also has sporty handling
and quick, responsive steering. We recommend going with
the optional air suspension on the coupe, though. The standard suspension
means a pretty harsh ride.

There are multiple
available options packages and trim levels for
the C-Class, including the previously
mentioned C43, which means that the somewhat entry
level luxury vehicle known as the C-Class can pretty much
be had however you want it. Unfortunately, those
available options packages often come with a steep price. In the four door, there's plenty
of room for average height adults in the back, but
the coup and convertible are a different story. Those are pretty much
kids' seats in the rear.

It's not really a surprise that
cabin materials in the C-Class are excellent, especially
on the upper trim levels, but on the highway there's quite
a bit of road and wind noise that we didn't expect. The bottom line with the
2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is that it's attractive,
plush, and exciting to drive. There are certainly
several luxury sedans that fit that bill,
though, and we'd recommend a few test drives
before you make your choice. Particularly, we'd check out
the BMW 3 Series, the Audi A4, and the Cadillac ATS.
