Comic and Graphic Novel Reviews #6The Coldest City, Paper Girls & more [CC]

Hi everyone, today I am here with another
comic book and graphic novel reviews video. This is my format in which I talk
about the comics and graphic novels I've read recently and since I've read quite
a few recently, I want to jump right in. The first one that I read was The
Coldest City by Anthony Johnston. I- this was recently made into a movie called
Atomic Blonde and I really enjoyed the movie, so that made me really interested
in seeing- in reading the graphic novel and when it was on sale on comiXology I
had to get it.

However I wasn't that much of a fan of
the graphic novel, it seemed very short for some reason, like I feel like the
story in the graphic novel could've been extended a little bit in some places, so
yeah, I just thought sometimes the story fell flat and didn't progress as well as
it could have had it been a little bit deeper maybe, but I overall enjoyed it
and gave it 3 out of 5 stars. Then the next one I read was Paper Girls Vol. 3 By
Brian K Vaughan and obviously I can't talk much about the plot because it's volume
3, but I love this one. The first one I.

Also loved just as much as this one, the
second one I thought was a little bit weaker, but the third one was so
fantastic once again, like the illustrations, the colors of the story,
the characters, it's all on point. I absolutely love this series, so yeah, this
one was definitely a 4.5 Out of 5 stars for me because I really love this
series. I also read The Wicked and the Divine vol 5: Imperial Phase Part I. This is
actually one of my favorite graphic novel series as well, however this
particular volume wasn't my favorite.

I. Think that the later volumes haven't
been quite as good as the first two or three, however this one was pretty good
still and I thought it was better than the fourth one because I wasn't a huge
fan of the fourth one, but yeah I still gave this one a 4 out of 5 stars. I feel
like the story is going back to becoming more interesting which I thought was
lacking a little bit in volume 4, so I. Was glad to see this go uphill again,
that was great.

So yeah, 4 out of 5 stars for this one. Then I
also read volumes four and five of Deadly Class, which is a graphic novel
series that is essentially about a school of assassins, like a couple of
teenagers who are trained to be assassins and are really really deadly
and then they also have their own struggles and their own fights among
each other and all that kind of stuff and I think it's a pretty solid series. I
enjoy reading it, however I wouldn't like count it among my favorites.
Both of these volumes I thought were very solid three star reads and like
nothing too outstanding but I thought they were very enjoyable to read in
between, yeah that was great. And then I.

Also read Lost at Sea by Bryan Lee
O'Malley who is the author who also wrote Scott Pilgrim, which is one of my
favorite graphic novel series, and this one was so so beautiful. I thought it was
wonderful. It's about a girl who at some point along the way lost her soul, like
she knows she used to have one but she doesn't have it anymore and I thought
this was so fantastic, it had a wonderful story, it also had like a really great
message of friendship and yeah it was really really cute. Like I think that
Bryan Lee O'Malley usually works with a quite simplistic art style and also
quite simplistic dialogue and everything, but it just makes for such
magical stories for some reason, like he really has a way with words and he knows
how to make little be very impactful so I really really enjoyed this one and
gave this one 5 out of 5 stars.

And the final graphic novel that I want
to talk about today is Neil Gaiman's Midnight Days. This one I got recently
when I was on a bookshop tour sort of and it was one of the graphic
novels by Neil Gaiman that I had not read yet. This one wasn't necessarily my
favorite, I thought it was pretty cool and all that kind of stuff, it's pretty
dark as well, you can also tell by the illustrations, it was pretty dark, so yeah,
that's kind of what the art looks like. I.

Really enjoyed the art style in this one
and I did overall enjoy the story as well but it wasn't my favorite, it wasn't
one that was very memorable to my mind but like I said I still
enjoyed it. I would give this probably a 3.5 Or 4 out of 5 stars something like
that. I enjoyed it but like I said it's not the best. And
that is it for this comic and graphic novel reviews video this time around.
Thank you so much for watching, I would love to know if you've read any of these
comics and what you thought of them and what is your favorite comic book series
or standalone graphic novel or whatever.

Thank you so much for watching, I hope
you enjoyed this video and I hope to see you soon in another one.
Goodbye!.
