Here's the review. I have in front of me the Cybex Cloud Q. There are 4 different varieties of this type of car seat. There is the Aton, the Aton 2, the Aton Q, and the Cloud Q.
They're all sort of similar to each other, but the Cloud Q is definitely the top of the line and it has a really really unique and awesome feature which I can't wait to show you in a second. But let's talk about the base, because if you don't talk about the base you've kind of missed the point of this car seat. So I'm going to remove the car seat from the base. And this is the base.
It looks very similar for the Aton 2, the Q, and the Cloud Q. They aren't exactly the same but they're very very similar. The first thing you need to know is that they have something called a load leg. A load leg is another tension point that goes down to the base of the car, the foot of like the bottom of the car.
So if you are (infant car seats go rear-facing) if you're God forbid in a crash, what happens is the load leg is an extra stabilization and connection point which helps secure the infant car seat. Which is great--very popular in Europe. But it does not only have a load leg, no no, it has this tensioning plate. This is what this does.
So if you actually pull this, the base lowers and you can remove these LATCH connectors. And if you're using LATCH using the lower anchor in your car to tension to install the carseat you click one in Keep this open Click the second in Take out a little slack from the latch, and then what you do is you do this, you push this down and this little orange knob turns and guess what? It is so secure. It's installed without having to tug on anything. Easy peasy, put the infant car seat back on.
But here's the really cool thing about this is that the funny thing about LATCH is that it only, in most cars, only exists on the driver side and on the passenger side. So if you want to install your car seat in the middle of the back seat, there aren't really typically easy ways of doing that with the seat belt except with the Cloud Q or the Aton Q or the Aton 2. Let me show you how that works. So I'm going to remove that latch, open this back up.
But now what you can do, you line up your seat belt open up the tension plate Send it through Then what you do is you just click it in okay? And now what you do is just like you did before, you push this down actually remove the slack and then push this down. And then again, less than one inch of movement at the base. But when you're installing this with the seat belt it is not a lock off. So what you have to do is you have to take the seat belt, pull it all the way to the end until the seat belt switched into the automatic lock position, and now it's installed fine.
So you can use this easily installed with a seat belt in the back of the back seat of your car. Boom, mind blown. I know, it's amazing. So let me show you a little bit more about the actual infant car seat.
So you have that load leg, you have that really cool tensioning plate to install it super easy, but there are more safety features. So cool. There is the LSP system. So these really neat prongs pop out, you pull them right out So if you are God forbid in a side impact collision, what's going to happen is it's going to hit the LSP system first Which is going to help absorb the energy and be extra super safe in a side impact collision.
These LSP things are on both sides of the infant car seat. There also is a non-rethread harness on this as well. It's really cushy and comfortable for baby. You just pull this little loop on the back, and you can (it actually starts at 4 pounds so you can use this with a really little baby) and then it slides right up as the baby gets bigger.
But no, I didn't show you the coolest part about The Cloud Q which makes this different from almost every other infant car seat on the market. This is a Cybex Priam. Remove the seat Come with these car seat adapters. Click one in click two in Remove it from the base, and now you can just click in Your Cloud Q.
Cool. But now, There's this little lever on the back and you push down and it reclines! Yes this is a reclining infant car seat. The baby can lie flat when you're walking around town with the baby in the infant car seat. Now you may have heard that we don't want the baby to be lying all day long in that sort of L in that V position.
But the nice thing about the Cloud Q is you can have the baby lie flat, you can use it instead of a bassinet, and it's great if you're planning on using your infant car seat a lot if you're a family that's going to be on-the-go a lot. You can see here that there are these little red sort of closing things closing things So what that does is that it stops it from being able to recline in the actual base of the seat, so it can't actually recline in the car only in the stroller. And it looks really cool too. While you're doing your research about Cloud Q, you may realize that there is a regular variety and a luxe variety.
The only difference between the regular and the luxe is the luxe have upgraded fabric, so they're a little bit nicer. But they're, for all intents and purposes, the same. You may have more questions about this infant car seat. If you do, you should email me your questions to questions@mbeans.Com.
