JANUARY BOOK HAUL
Hello! My name is Kat and today I will be doing my January Book Haul I feel like I say this in every single book haul, but I have a lot of books to show you guys today! I didn't mean to I feel like I say that in every book haul too But it is my birthday soon here, in like a week and a half, so I have received some birthday gifts and they are books, because that's what I like to receive as gifts and also just any time for any reason I love the books books books books BOOKS Now I will show you the books! There are 19 of them! Hahaha okay let's get on with it I'm gonna start with the books I bought for myself before I jump into the books I received from other people So first up I have Golden Son by Pierce Brown This is the second book in the Red Rising trilogy and it just came out on January 6th And I have already read this book. I actually read both Red Rising and Golden Son this month and I made booktalks about both of 'em, so I'll link those below if you wanna know more about this book/the trilogy! Next up I have The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black This is a standalone paranormal novel and it just came out on January 13th and I have already read this one too, and I didn't do a booktalk for it, but I will be talking more about it in my January Wrap-Up in a few days here. Next up I have The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick and this was also a new release of January I haven't read it yet, but I did talk about it in my January Releases video if you'd like to know a little more about it Basically, I bought this book because of the cover I just think it's beautiful--the colors, and the imagery going on here is--I just really like it and so I bought it. Then I have here Fairest by Marissa Meyer which also just came out this month and also, I have already read this book This is a prequel to The Lunar Chronicles series, which is one of my favorite series right now and it delves into the backstory of the villain of the series, Queen Levana I'm a little bit bothered by how this book was marketed as "a full length novel with full color art" Because "full length" is kinda stretching it, okay? It's 200 pages.
200 Great pages, but 200 pages. And the "full color art" is beautiful, but... Like... This is it it's this image twice, in the front and back.
That's the full color art. I feel lied to. But yeah, anyways, I'll get more into the content of the actual story in my January Wrap-Up, stay tuned for that Next up I have The Walled City by Ryan Graudin This is a dystopian standalone novel, which I don't think I've ever read one of those before--INTERESTING! It's a pretty recent release, you know, it came out at the end of last year and while I haven't heard a whole lot about it, what I have heard has been positive so I saw it at B&N and I bought it And then I have here This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner This is the sequel/companion to These Broken Stars, which I read this month and really enjoyed so I wanted the sequel and it was autographed at B&N so I bought it! Autographed! I haven't been able to read this yet, but I will be doing so very soon So those were all of the books that I bought for myself this month and now let's get into the books that I received as birthday gifts even though technically not all of these were in fact birthday gifts, I'm going to count them as such because it is my birthday soon and I can do what I want So first up I have the Unwind Dystology by Neal Shusterman And this was actually not a birthday gift but rather a belated "congratulations on winning NaNoWriMo gift" And this beautiful boxset was a gift from Dennis, who not only got me this beautiful boxset but he also donated to NaNoWriMo through my fundraising page which enabled me to go to the Night of Writing Dangerously last year. So huge thank you to Dennis for this boxset and for donating to NaNoWriMo--THANK YOU! Next up I have To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han and this was a gift from Shannon, so thank you so much Shannon! I tried to buy this book during the BookOutlet boxing day sale, but it literally sold out from under me Like, it was in my cart, I was hitting the check-out button, and then I got DENIED.
And it was gone. It sold out so fast, it was insane. But then Shannon tweeted at me, saying that she had a copy she wasn't planning to read anytime soon and would I want it? And I was like, "Yes, please, that would be awesome!" So thank you Shannon, I'm really looking forward to getting to this. Next up I have here Just One Year by Gayle Forman, and this was a gift from Ross who saw that Christine got me Just One Day and was hoping that I hadn't gone out to get this for myself just yet, and I hadn't.
So thank you so much Ross, because now my duology is complete and I can give these books a good marathon. Next up I have Branded by Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki--I'm so sorry if I'm saying your names wrong And I actually received this from the authors, Abi and Missy, they sent it to my PO Box along with a very sweet letter, and the book is signed by both of them and I've just heard really good things about this, so I'm excited to get to it! Thank you, Abi & Missy! Next up I have Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh, and this was a gift from Jessica W. So thank you so much Jessica! I have been a fan of Allie's blog for years, and I've been meaning to get this book pretty much since it came out so as soon as I received it, I read it. And I loved it.
It was so funny it almost had me in tears So yes, thank you again Jessica, for this wonderful hilarious book! Next up I have Deadly Class by Rick Remender and Wes Craig and this was a gift from Riley So thank you so much Riley! Lately I've been exploring the graphic novel medium, and this one has been recommended to me by a couple of people I trust, so I'm very excited to give it a read. I gave it a good flip through when I got it, and it's in color and the art is very, like, gritty and cool so I'm very excited to read this. Thank you again, Riley! Next up I have 2 books that were gifts from Jessica H. Pure, the second book in the Covenant series by Jennifer L Armentrout and Chasing Merlin by Sarah White I have the first book in the Covenant series, but I haven't started it yet so now that I have the second I should probably get on that And Chasing Merlin I hadn't even heard of before, but it looks really cool and it takes place in London and Wales and deals with Merlin mythology, so that sounds awesome! So thank you Jessica, for both of these books! I am really excited to get to them.
And finally, I have two books here from Jacob. He sent me Zodiac by Romina Russell and Changeling by Phillipa Gregory. Both of these books are so beautiful and they're the tall ones and this one has deckle edges and I've heard good things about both of them, so thank you Jacob for the books and also for the other things you sent me! It was a very awesome package and it totally made my day! ALRIGHT! That is it! Those were the 19 books that I received in the month of January. I wanna say one final THANK YOU to all of the awesome people who sent me gifts or letters or who leave me comments or really just any of you wonderful people watching my video right now.
THANK YOU. I hope you enjoyed it! I hope you have a great night and I will have another video up soon, so I will see you then. GOODBYEEEEEEE..
