Lean In by Sheryl SandbergAnimated Book Review
Sheryl Sandbergs book, Lean In, reflects
on ever-present gender inequalities that exist even today. Prejudice in everyplace is something women
need to face every day, together with various difficulties. Author speaks from her own experience on her
workplace, how to deal with the injustice in the workplace and how to aspire equality. Here are the five main lessons from Lean In: One.
Sit at the table. Author states that women should walk up to
the plate and own what they deserve. Women should, instead of questioning their
own flaws, ask themselves what they can do if they overcome their fear and insecurity. Two.
All cant like you and this is OK. Another normal concept is when a man gets
success, he is praised and liked by all men and women while this is not the case in case
of women. When a woman gets more success, she is less
praised by men and women. Three.
Empowering other women. Different woman have different choice and
we should not blame each other for their choice rather we should respect every woman. The author has said in the book that rather
than tearing each other, we should extend a helping hand to other woman and should also
appreciate their choices. Four.
Get the right partner. With all these getting the right partner in
life who can support you in every situation is really needed. Your partner should be ready to take up half
of the responsibility at home as well so that you both can better manage the personal and
professional life altogether. Five.
Speak up against prejudice and stereotype. Staying quiet and ignoring the situation is
not going to help you rather you should raise your voice when prejudice is seen around. Instead of just doing their work and trying
and trying to prove their worth women should speak up when needed. Sheryl Sandberg shares some of her points
and conclusions from personal work experience, as a Facebook COO she is a good role model
and example to follow on.
