better than the enemy you dont know. The wisdom in that statement is this: if you
know your enemy, you know how he will attack, and thus you know how you will counter attack.
When you know your enemy, he never has the upper hand with the element of surprise.

You
know he is coming, you know how hes coming and even more you know exactly how to defeat
him. In her latest book Fervent: A Womans Battle
Plan for Serious, Specific and strategic prayer Priscilla Shirer reveals the enemies plan
of attack and then shows readers how to strategically overcome each attack with the power of prayer.
If kind of feels like cheating. Like the enemies playbook is right in your hand. No need for
learning it the hard way or Figuring it out all by yourself.

Fervent is a plan for victorious
living through prayer. Priscilla starts the book by helping readers
to truly understand why we should pray. That prayer is not just one more thing we check
off of our be a good Christian check list. She says Prayer is the portal that
brings the power of heaven down to earth.

It is kryptonite to the enemy and to all his
ploys against you. She reminds readers that we are at war and prayer is a serious
weapon in our arsenal to ensure our victory. Now when I first heard of the book Fervent,
Ill be honest I was skippable. A book about prayer? But Fervent is more than a book about prayer.
So after Priscilla explains why we should pray, the uses a majority of the book showing
readers how to actually do it.

You will literally pray your way through this
book. The book covers 10 areas the enemy will strategically
target in your life to destroy your relationship with God, how you view yourself and your relationship
with others. At the beginning of each chapter she states If I were you enemy . .

.  And
shows through the eyes of the enemy why and how he is targeting this specific area. It
kind of has a C.S.Lewis Screw Tape Letters feel to it which I loved. Because when you
can clearly see your enemys strategy and why and how he is targeting you, it makes
your counter attack that much more powerful.

For each area that the enemy attacks, Priscilla
presents a strategy that shows readers what things we need to be praying for and gives
us a guide to structure those prayers. At the end of each chapter readers are instructed
to pray over that area using the strategy that Priscilla has presented. At the back
of the book are perforated prayer cards for readers to tear out to write their prayers
down. They are then to be placed in a location where they can be frequently seen as a reminder
to pray.

Now I would not consider this book a casual
read because its much more interactive and really gets readers involved. This is
a book you will want to savor. Because although the chapters are short Priscilla packs each
one with so much wisdom, you are going to want to stop at each chapter and just let
that thang marinate. In Fervent Priscilla Shirer talks candidly
about spiritual warfare and does not hold back on the topic.

I mean the back of the
book starts off with you have an enemy. But thats what I really enjoyed about this
book. Its a fresh honest look at whats really going on behind the scenes of our Christian
lives. And not in a way that leaves readers scared and intimidated.

Not at all. In a way
that empowers readers, in the words of Priscilla to not only be able to defend yourself
from incoming sniper fire but through Almighty God will be able to push into enemy territory
and take [book ]stuff [boom] back[back]. Think bold. Think confident.

Think a renewed
assurance in your God that leaves no room for fear. Trust me after reading this book
you will be running to your closet ready to pray, ready to win. Overall I enjoyed this book. It took me a
little over a week to complete.

Its a little different compared to the other Priscilla
Shirer books I have read that typically follow a particular scripture or story in the bible
like One In A Million, Life Interrupted or even God is Able. But Fervent is
still packed with scripture to support what is being taught. If you want to see Gods hand more clearly
in your life, if you want to stop being a victim of the enemies schemes against you,
if you want power to fight for your family, for your church, and for yourself, I believe
